The Mount Pleasant neighbourhood is located on the border between the East and West sides of Vancouver, stretching as far west as Cambie Street and east to Clark Drive. 16th Avenue is its southern border while 2nd Avenue is usually considered the neighbourhood’s furthest street north.
Main Street is the major shopping and dining area in Mount Pleasant, boasting many unique consignment shops and funky restaurants. Broadway runs perpendicular to Main Street and features several excellent restaurants and a plethora of sports and outdoors stores.
Not far from the intersection of Main Street and Broadway is the new Mount Pleasant Community Centre. Residents can make use of the fitness centre and gym facilities, rent meeting rooms, and participate in educational summer programs. The Centre even offers childcare.
Homes in the Mount Pleasant area tend to be old and quaint, but condominium developments are appearing and Mount Pleasant is gaining attention as a good place to invest in real estate.
There are a few elementary schools in the neighbourhood to support the population of young families in Mount Pleasant. An outdoor pool and water park at the old Mount Pleasant Community Centre site is a great place for families to spend a day during the summer months
Altogether, Mount Pleasant lives up to its name as a pleasant neighbourhood in central Vancouver with plenty of convenient shopping, a diverse array of restaurants and plenty of facilities for children and adults to enjoy.
